Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
D-Link DAP-1325 (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow in the
SetHostIPv6StaticSettings() function when handling the StaticDefaultGateway parameter. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected device. The vulnerability is also related to the handling of XML data provided to the HNAP1 SOAP endpoint, specifically due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root.Recommendations
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
SetHostIPv6StaticSettings() function until a patch is available.
Restrict access to the HNAP1 SOAP endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Avoid using the StaticDefaultGateway parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.RCE
