CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions 5.18 through 6.0
Description A use-after-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel MCTP (Management Component Transport Protocol) functionality. This issue occurs when a user simultaneously calls DROPTAG ioctl and socket close happens, which could allow a local user to crash the system or potentially escalate their privileges on the system. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions 5.18 through 6.0, update to version 6.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the MCTP functionality until a patch is available.
