Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The vulnerability is related to the
watch queue set filter() function in the Linux kernel, where a couple of places check that the filter type value does not exceed what the type filter bitmap can hold. However, one of these checks uses BITS PER LONG instead of 8, leading to potential out-of-bounds writes due to a too-large type. This can cause issues such as set bit() on wfilter->type filter and writing more elements in wfilter->filters[] than allocated. The bug may cause an oops looking like a slab-out-of-bounds error in watch queue set filter+0x659/0x740.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
