Description
The issue is related to a heap buffer overflow in the
H5A attr release table() function of the HDF5 library. This overflow can lead to the corruption of the instruction pointer, resulting in denial of service or potentially allowing for code execution. The exploitation of this issue may allow a remote attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.Recommendations
For HDF5 versions prior to 1.14.4, update to version 1.14.4 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
H5A attr release table() function until a patch is available.Fix
