Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The vulnerability is related to a deadlock in the MCS queue of the powerpc/qspinlock component. If an interrupt occurs after incrementing
qnodesp->count and before initializing node->lock, another CPU might see stale lock values, leading to a deadlock. This can cause the CPU to spin indefinitely until its "next" pointer is set by its successor in the queue. The issue can be reproduced by running stress-ng on a 16-core shared LPAR, resulting in occasional lockups.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
