Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Pretty Links plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.1.9
Description
The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the
track link function, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages via various IP headers and the referer header. This enables the execution of injected scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.1.9, update to a version higher than 2.1.9 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
track link function until a patch is available.Exploit
