Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
JetBackup – WP Backup, Migrate & Restore plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including 1.3.9
Description
The issue is due to missing nonce validation on the
backup guard get import backup() function, making it possible for unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files to the vulnerable site's server via a forged request. This can happen if an attacker can trick a site's administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including 1.3.9, consider disabling the
backup guard get import backup() function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the backup functionality to minimize the risk of arbitrary file uploads. Update to a version that includes nonce validation for the backup guard get import backup() function to fully resolve the issue.Fix
