CVE-2020-36706

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions The Simple:Press – WordPress Forum Plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 6.6.0
Description The issue is related to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the ~/admin/resources/jscript/ajaxupload/sf-uploader.php file. This allows attackers to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server, which may make remote code execution possible.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 6.6.0, update to a version higher than 6.6.0 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the file upload functionality in the ~/admin/resources/jscript/ajaxupload/sf-uploader.php file until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable file to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the file upload feature in the affected plugin until the issue is resolved.
