Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle Solaris versions 10 through 11
Description
The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the NSSwitch component of Oracle Solaris. It allows a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Oracle Solaris. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and may significantly impact additional products. Attacks can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of Oracle Solaris' accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service of Oracle Solaris.
Recommendations
For Oracle Solaris version 10, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For Oracle Solaris version 11, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the NSSwitch component until a patch is available.
Fix
