CVSS v3.1

7.0

High

VectorAV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Insyde InsydeH2O versions 5.0 through 5.5
Description An issue was discovered in Insyde InsydeH2O that could cause TOCTOU race-condition issues due to DMA attacks on the NvmExpressDxe buffer used by SMM and non-SMM code, potentially leading to corruption of SMRAM and escalation of privileges. This can be mitigated by using IOMMU protection for the ACPI runtime memory used for the command buffer or by copying the link data to SMRAM before checking it and verifying that all pointers are within the buffer.
Recommendations For Insyde InsydeH2O versions 5.0 through 5.5, consider using IOMMU protection for the ACPI runtime memory used for the command buffer as a mitigation measure. For Insyde InsydeH2O versions 5.0 through 5.5, copy the link data to SMRAM before checking it and verify that all pointers are within the buffer to minimize the risk of exploitation.
