CVE-2022-40996

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Siretta QUARTZ-GOLD version G5.0.1.5-210720-141020
Description The issue is related to stack-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities in the DetranCLI command parsing functionality. A specially-crafted network packet can lead to arbitrary command execution. An attacker can send a sequence of requests to trigger these vulnerabilities. The buffer overflow is in the function that manages the no firmwall srcmac (WORD|null) srcip (A.B.C.D|null) dstip (A.B.C.D|null) protocol (none|tcp|udp|icmp) srcport (<1-65535>|null) dstport (<1-65535>|null) policy (drop|accept) description (WORD|null) command template.
Recommendations As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the command parsing functionality for the no firmwall command template until a patch is available. Restrict access to the DetranCLI to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the srcmac, srcip, dstip, protocol, srcport, dstport, policy, and description variables in the affected command template until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
