| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Sidebar Widgets by CodeLights WordPress plugin versions 1.4 and earlier
Description
The issue allows users with a role as low as a contributor to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks, which could be used against high-privilege users such as admins. This is due to the plugin not validating and escaping some of its shortcode attributes before outputting them back in the page.
Recommendations
For versions 1.4 and earlier, update to a version that properly validates and escapes shortcode attributes to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the vulnerable shortcode attributes to minimize the risk of exploitation.
