| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Acuant AcuFill SDK versions prior to 10.22.02.03
Description
An issue in the Acuant AcuFill SDK allows a standard user to break out of a window running with elevated privileges during SDK installation, resulting in a full SYSTEM command prompt window. This leads to complete compromise via arbitrary SYSTEM code execution, which is an elevation of privileges. The issue arises because certutil.exe is called by the Acuant installer to install certificates, and this window is not hidden.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 10.22.02.03, update to version 10.22.02.03 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the SDK installation process to minimize the risk of exploitation.
