Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
CPT Bootstrap Carousel WordPress plugin versions 1.12 and earlier
Description
The issue concerns the CPT Bootstrap Carousel WordPress plugin, which does not properly validate and escape some of its shortcode attributes before outputting them back in the page. This could allow users with a role as low as contributor to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks, potentially targeting high-privilege users such as admins.
Recommendations
For CPT Bootstrap Carousel WordPress plugin versions 1.12 and earlier, update to a version that properly validates and escapes shortcode attributes to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the vulnerable shortcode attributes until a patch is available.
