Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Wicked Folders plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.18.16
Description
The issue is related to a missing capability check on the
ajax add folder function, allowing authenticated attackers with subscriber-level permissions and above to invoke this function and perform actions intended for administrators, such as modifying the folder structure maintained by the plugin.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.18.16, update to a version higher than 2.18.16 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
ajax add folder function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the Wicked Folders plugin to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the Wicked Folders plugin with subscriber-level permissions and above until the issue is resolved.Fix
