Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WP Meta SEO plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 4.5.3
Description
The issue allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access to update plugin settings without proper authorization. This is due to a missing capability check on the
saveSitemapSettings function. The vulnerability arises from the plugin's reliance on nonce checks for access control, which are accessible to all authenticated users regardless of their role.Recommendations
For WP Meta SEO plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 4.5.3, consider updating to a version that includes a fix for this issue, as the current version allows unauthorized changes to sitemap-related settings. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
saveSitemapSettings function until a patch is available.Fix
