CVE-2023-1259

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Hotjar plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.0.15
Description The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. This affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered html has been disabled, making it possible for attackers to execute scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For Hotjar plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.0.15, update to a version later than 1.0.15 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the hotjar site id parameter to minimize the risk of exploitation.
