Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Short URL plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.6.4
Description
The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, allowing stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks via the
comment parameter. This enables authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, which will execute when a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.6.4, update to a version higher than 1.6.4 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
comment parameter to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
