Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Android versions prior to the fixed version
Description
The issue is related to a possible bad URI permission grant due to improper input validation in the
readFrom method of Uri.java. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.Recommendations
For Android versions prior to the fixed version, consider restricting access to the
readFrom method of Uri.java to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the Uri.java class until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Improper Privilege Management
