CVE-2023-2440

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions UserPro plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.1.1
Description The issue is due to missing nonce validation in the admin page, userpro verify user, and verifyUnverifyAllUsers functions, making it possible for unauthenticated attackers to modify the role of verified users and elevate their privileges to that of any user, such as administrator, via a forged request. This can be achieved if an attacker can trick a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a link.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 5.1.1, consider disabling the admin page, userpro verify user, and verifyUnverifyAllUsers functions as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to these functions to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using these functions until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
