CVE-2022-48425

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.8
Description The issue is related to the ntfs read mft() function in the fs/ntfs3/inode.c module of the Linux kernel, which lacks validation of attribute sizes. This can be exploited to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The problem is caused by an invalid kfree due to the lack of validation of MFT flags before replaying logs.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.8, update to version 6.2.8 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the ntfs read mft() function in the fs/ntfs3/inode.c module until a patch is available.
