CVE-2023-2688

CVSS v3.1

4.9

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WordPress File Upload and WordPress File Upload Pro versions up to, and including, 4.19.1
Description The issue allows administrator-level attackers to move files uploaded with the plugin outside of the web root via the wfu newpath parameter. This is a Path Traversal issue, affecting files located in wp-content/uploads by default.
Recommendations For WordPress File Upload and WordPress File Upload Pro versions up to, and including, 4.19.1, consider restricting access to the wfu newpath parameter until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the ability to move files outside of the web root to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
