Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Jenkins Convert To Pipeline Plugin versions 1.0 and earlier
Description
A cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability allows attackers to create a Pipeline based on a Freestyle project, potentially leading to remote code execution (RCE). The vulnerability is related to the lack of requirement for POST requests for the HTTP endpoint converting a Freestyle project to Pipeline. This issue can be combined with other vulnerabilities to result in the execution of unsandboxed Pipeline scripts.
Recommendations
For Jenkins Convert To Pipeline Plugin versions 1.0 and earlier, consider disabling the conversion of Freestyle projects to Pipeline until a patch is available. Restrict access to the HTTP endpoint responsible for converting projects to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
