CVE-2022-31647

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Docker Desktop versions prior to 4.6.0
Description The issue is related to errors in handling symbolic links within the settings.DataFolder variable in the Docker Desktop for Windows platform. This can allow a remote attacker to gain read, modify, or delete access to data. The vulnerability can be exploited through the "hyperv/destroy" dockerBackendV2 API endpoint by using a symlink in the DataFolder parameter.
Recommendations For Docker Desktop versions prior to 4.6.0, update to version 4.6.0 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the DataFolder parameter in the affected API endpoint until a patch is available.
