CVE-2023-38889

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Alluxio versions 2.9.3 and earlier
Description An issue in Alluxio allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code via a crafted script to the username parameter of lluxio.util.CommonUtils.getUnixGroups(java.lang.String). This enables the attacker to potentially gain unauthorized access and control.
Recommendations For Alluxio versions 2.9.3 and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the lluxio.util.CommonUtils.getUnixGroups(java.lang.String) function until a patch is available. Additionally, avoid using the username parameter in the affected function to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
