Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Waiting: One-click countdowns plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.6.2
Description
The issue is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on its AJAX actions, making it possible for unauthenticated attackers to create and delete countdowns via forged requests. This can happen if an attacker can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link. Over 5M installations are at risk.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 0.6.2, update to a version that includes proper nonce validation on its AJAX actions to prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's AJAX actions until a patch is available.
