CVE-2023-42319

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Geth (aka go-ethereum) versions 1.13.4 and earlier
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption and daemon hang) via a crafted GraphQL query when --http --graphql is used. The vendor's position is that the "graphql endpoint [is not] designed to withstand attacks by hostile clients, nor handle huge amounts of clients/traffic."
Recommendations For Geth (aka go-ethereum) versions 1.13.4 and earlier, consider disabling the --http --graphql option until a patch is available to prevent potential denial of service attacks. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the GraphQL endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
