Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Slimstat Analytics plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.0.9
Description
The issue is related to SQL Injection via the plugin's shortcode due to insufficient escaping on the
user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries, which can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.Recommendations
For Slimstat Analytics plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.0.9:
Update to a version higher than 5.0.9 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available.
