CVE-2023-34276

CVSS v3.1

8.0

High

VectorAV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions D-Link DIR-2150 (affected versions not specified)
Description This issue allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of D-Link DIR-2150 routers. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the SOAP API interface, which listens on TCP port 80 by default. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string, specifically the Username in the SetTriggerPPPoEValidate function, before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute code in the context of root.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the SetTriggerPPPoEValidate function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the SOAP API interface on TCP port 80 to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the Username parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
