Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Giveaways and Contests by RafflePress plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.12.0
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'rafflepress' and 'rafflepress gutenberg' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on the
giframe user-supplied attribute. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.12.0, update to a version that includes the necessary input sanitization and output escaping fixes to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'rafflepress' and 'rafflepress gutenberg' shortcodes to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, restrict the use of the
giframe attribute in these shortcodes until a patch is available.Fix
