Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Delete Me plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.0
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
plugin delete me shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The shortcode is not displayed to administrators, so it cannot be used against administrator users.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.0, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
plugin delete me shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available.Fix
