Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Options for Twenty Seventeen plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.5.0
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
social-links shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.5.0, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
social-links shortcode for users with contributor-level and above permissions until a patch is available.Fix
