CVE-2023-5315

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Maps made Simple plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.6
Description The issue arises from insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query in the plugin's shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level and above permissions to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries, potentially extracting sensitive information from the database.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 0.6, consider disabling the shortcode functionality until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the plugin's configuration to minimize the risk of exploitation by limiting permissions to only necessary users. Avoid using the plugin's shortcode with user-supplied input until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
