CVE-2023-5705

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions VK Filter Search plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.3.1
Description The VK Filter Search plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'vk filter search' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 2.3.1, update to a version that fixes the issue, as the current version allows for the injection of arbitrary web scripts. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'vk filter search' shortcode until a patch is available. Restrict contributor-level and above permissions to minimize the risk of exploitation.
