CVE-2023-5761

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Burst Statistics – Privacy-Friendly Analytics for WordPress plugin for WordPress versions 1.4.0 to 1.4.6.1 (free) and versions 1.4.0 to 1.5.0 (pro)
Description The issue is related to SQL Injection via the url parameter due to insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
Recommendations For versions 1.4.0 to 1.4.6.1 (free), consider disabling the url parameter until a patch is available. For versions 1.4.0 to 1.5.0 (pro), consider disabling the url parameter until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the SQL query to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the url parameter in the affected plugin until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
