CVE-2023-5817

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Neon text plugin for WordPress version 1.1 and earlier
Description The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, specifically the color attribute, in the plugin's neontext box shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For Neon text plugin for WordPress version 1.1 and earlier, consider disabling the neontext box shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the shortcode to minimize the risk of arbitrary web script injection. Avoid using the color attribute in the affected shortcode until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
