Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
UserPro plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.1.4
Description
The issue allows authenticated attackers with minimal permissions to modify their user role by exploiting insufficient restrictions on the
userpro update user profile function. This is achieved by supplying the wp capabilities parameter during a profile update.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 5.1.4, consider disabling the
userpro update user profile function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to profile updates to minimize the risk of privilege escalation. Avoid using the wp capabilities parameter in profile updates until the issue is resolved.Fix
