CVE-2023-6488

CVSS v3.1

5.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WP Shortcodes Plugin — Shortcodes Ultimate plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 7.0.0
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's su button, su members, and su tabs shortcodes due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 7.0.0, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the su button, su members, and su tabs shortcodes to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, restrict permissions to prevent contributor-level and above users from injecting malicious scripts.
