CVE-2023-36355

CVSS v3.1

9.9

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions TP-Link TL-WR940N version V4
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the WanDynamicIpV6CfgRpm component when handling the ipStart parameter. This can be exploited by sending a specially crafted GET request to the "/userRpm/WanDynamicIpV6CfgRpm.htm" endpoint, potentially allowing a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS).
Recommendations For TP-Link TL-WR940N version V4, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the "/userRpm/WanDynamicIpV6CfgRpm.htm" endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the ipStart parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
