| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle Java SE versions 8u371, 8u371-perf, 11.0.19, 17.0.7, 20.0.1
Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition versions 20.3.10, 21.3.6, 22.3.2
Oracle GraalVM for JDK versions 17.0.7, 20.0.1
Description
The issue is related to errors in processing input data in the Hotspot component of Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition, and Oracle GraalVM for JDK. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise these systems, resulting in unauthorized read access to a subset of accessible data. This vulnerability can be exploited by using APIs in the specified component, for example, through a web service that supplies data to the APIs. It also applies to Java deployments that load and run untrusted code and rely on the Java sandbox for security.
Recommendations
For Oracle Java SE versions 8u371, 8u371-perf, 11.0.19, 17.0.7, 20.0.1, consider disabling the use of APIs in the Hotspot component until a patch is available.
For Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition versions 20.3.10, 21.3.6, 22.3.2, restrict access to the Hotspot component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
For Oracle GraalVM for JDK versions 17.0.7, 20.0.1, avoid using the APIs in the Hotspot component in web services that supply data to the APIs until the issue is resolved.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the use of sandboxed Java Web Start applications or sandboxed Java applets that load and run untrusted code until a patch is available.
