Description
The issue is caused by a buffer overflow on the stack in the
inet ntoa() function. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a buffer overflow. The buffer overflow occurs via the param 2 parameter in the inet ntoa() function.Recommendations
For D-Link DIR-868L version fw revA 1-12 eu multi 20170316, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
inet ntoa() function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the param 2 parameter in the affected function until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Buffer Overflow
