Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Milesight UR32L version 32.3.0.5
Description
The issue is caused by the use of an unsafe sprintf pattern in the vtysh ubus binary, leading to multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities. A specially crafted HTTP request can trigger these vulnerabilities, potentially allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code. The buffer overflow occurs in the
set qos function with the rule name variable, which can be exploited using two possible format strings that represent negated commands.Recommendations
For Milesight UR32L version 32.3.0.5, consider disabling the
set qos function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation of the buffer overflow vulnerability. Restrict access to the vtysh ubus binary to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the rule name variable in the affected function until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
