Description
A maliciously crafted PRT file can cause a Heap-Based Buffer Overflow when parsed through Autodesk AutoCAD. This issue can be leveraged by a malicious actor to cause a crash, read sensitive data, or execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process. The vulnerability is related to a buffer overflow in memory, which can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For Autodesk AutoCAD version 2023, update to a version that fixes the Heap-Based Buffer Overflow issue.
For Autodesk AutoCAD version 2024, update to a version that fixes the Heap-Based Buffer Overflow issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the parsing of PRT files from untrusted sources until a patch is available.
