Description The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow when handling XML data, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary code. This can be done by network-adjacent attackers without requiring authentication. The specific flaw exists within the handling of XML data provided to the HNAP1 SOAP endpoint, due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root.
