Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
D-Link DIR-X3260 (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the SetSysEmailSettings function of the D-Link DIR-X3260 Wi-Fi router's firmware, which is associated with insufficient input data cleansing. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions and execute arbitrary code by sending specially crafted HNAP requests to TCP ports 80 and 443. The specific flaw exists within the prog.cgi, which handles HNAP requests made to the lighttpd webserver listening on TCP ports 80 and 443. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root.
