7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Wireshark versions 4.0.0 through 4.0.10
Description The issue is related to a crash in the SSH dissector of Wireshark, allowing for denial of service via packet injection or crafted capture file. This can be exploited by a remote attacker, potentially causing a service disruption by sending specially crafted packets. The problem is associated with insufficient sanitization of special elements in the output used by the incoming component.
Recommendations For Wireshark versions 4.0.0 through 4.0.10, consider disabling the SSH dissector function until a patch is available to prevent potential denial of service attacks. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
