Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Adobe Illustrator versions 27.9 and earlier
Adobe Illustrator versions 28.0 and earlier
Description:
The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read vulnerability when parsing a crafted file, which could result in a read past the end of an allocated memory structure. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction, where a victim must open a malicious file, specifically a JP2 file.
Recommendations:
For Adobe Illustrator versions 27.9 and earlier, update to a version later than 27.9 to resolve the issue.
For Adobe Illustrator versions 28.0 and earlier, update to a version later than 28.0 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of JP2 files in Adobe Illustrator until a patch is available.
