CVE-2023-52457

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's serial driver, specifically in the 8250 serial driver. When an error occurs during the removal of a device, the driver core emits an error message and removes the device anyway, potentially leading to resource leaks. If the serial8250 unregister port() function is skipped, it may keep enough of the UART around to trigger a use-after-free. This could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
