Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a reference leak in the Linux kernel, specifically in the platform/x86: think-lmi component. When a duplicate attribute is found using
kset find obj(), a reference to that attribute is returned and needs to be disposed of using kobject put(). The setting name validation has been moved into a separate function to prevent duplicating cleanup code. A similar bug was previously fixed in the dell-sysman driver. The vulnerability can be exploited to cause a denial of service.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
