| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.0.39 and prior
Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.4.2 and prior
Oracle MySQL Server versions 9.0.1 and prior
Description
The issue is related to incorrect resource cleanup or deallocation in the Server: Optimizer component of Oracle MySQL Server, allowing a low-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the server. Successful attacks can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server.
Recommendations
For Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.0.39 and prior: Upgrade to a version later than 8.0.39.
For Oracle MySQL Server versions 8.4.2 and prior: Upgrade to a version later than 8.4.2.
For Oracle MySQL Server versions 9.0.1 and prior: Upgrade to a version later than 9.0.1.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Server: Optimizer component until a patch is available.
